In the first games of the season, the Mallards’ tossball team met the Fireballs from Allershausen. Patchy weather forecasts notwithstanding, the games could be played once the skies cleared up.
The Mallards practiced the new front toss regulation during the winter season, but the reality in the field is always different. The young players approached the task with confidence and most of them quickly adopted and reached first base. Only in the defense it was evident, that many of the kids played their first game ever. The result was a narrow win for the Fireballs with 14:12.
A majority of the newest players got the chance to show their knowledge in the second game. They fought hard and reached base more often than not, but it was not enough against the Fireballs, who have played two games more this season. The Mallard’s offense was strong also in the second game, with home runs from both Jamie Hutton and Sebastian Dornacher. The game was lost mainly due to mistakes in fielding and throwing. The team will have to work on their communication and cooperation. So sadly, the second game was also won by the guests, this time with 17:12.
Despite the two losses, the Mallards were happy and satisfied with the opening games. The coaches Melanie, Moritz, Bene and Markus were justly proud of their team and will train diligently in preparation for the games in Freising upcoming Sunday.
