Sunday afternoon the 89ers (joint team of Rosenheim 2 and Bad Aibling) visited the Mallards Ballpark.
With key players like Jürgen Schulz, Michael Schirmer, Sven Bornhagen, and Moritz and Christopher Settles missing, the Mallards did not have much chance and lost both games.
Game 1: Erding Mallards – SG Rosenheim 2 / Bad Aibling: 6:12
Starting pitcher Stefan Göttler had good control over the strike zone, but could not beat the strong hitters of the 89ers. They kept hitting line drives towards the left field and collected an impressive 10 hits. The Mallards defense tallied three errors, which in the end did not really impact the results. It was simply the guest’s far better batting that explains the outcome. Jörg Baumgärtner scored twice, one hit each was made by Stefan Göttler, Jörg Baumgärtner, Markus Habeck and Florian Bellstedt.

Game 2: Erding Mallards – SG Rosenheim 2 / Bad Aibling: 2:14
Casey Langford did a good job in his first and only pitching inning, as usual. Sadly, Jörg Baumgärtner could not continue down the same path, giving up too many walks and easily hit pitches. At the same time, Samuel Buchner of the 89ers had several very good moments and only let a few Mallards batters survive. The two runs by the Mallards were both done by Stefan Göttler who also produced one of the two singles in the game for Erding. The second hit was landed by newcomer Daniel Kesse, who launched the ball deep into the outfield for a triple base hit. If he only had stayed at 3rd: in his eagerness to round the bases, he misjudged the throw from the outfield and the ball beat him to the plate. The result was a standing up collision with the catcher, earning him an ejection.
